1-montreal

What’s better than winning the World Tag Team titles for the first time? Winning them in your home town. Not long after Duprée had been drafted to Smackdown, La Résistance were being billed as being from Quebec, not France. At the time, Edge and Chris Benoit were the champions and La Résistance challenged them for the titles in Montreal, receiving a lot of cheers from the (to me anyway!) very pro-La Résistance crowd. Towards the end of the match, Edge went to spear Grenier who moved, causing Edge to spear Benoit who rolled out of the ring. La Résistance lifted Edge and performed their signature Au Revoir with Grenier covering Edge for the win. La Résistance celebrated their victory both in the ring and in the crowd with the fans.

2-badblood2003

Not quite two months after La Résistance made their WWE debut, they were challenging Kane and RVD for the World Tag Team titles, having won a flag match a few weeks earlier. The match started off with Duprée and RVD in the ring, with Dupree shoving RVD away to give him enough time to perform his ‘French Tickler.’ The match went back and forth for a while until RVD did an aerial move out of the ring, intending to land on La Résistance but ended up hitting Kane instead. La Résistance took advantage of that by getting RVD back into the ring and hitting their signature flapjack. Sylvain covered RVD for the win and the World Tag Team titles.

3-returnfrominjury

Sylvain had been out of action for approximately six months with an injury and returned to Raw the night after Wrestlemania XX. La Résistance were accompanied by a French poodle named Fifi. The draft lottery was to happen the following weeks and La Résistance were a little worried about it (as it happened, they were split up in the draft the following week).

4-nowayout

Sylvain was the referee in the match between The Rock and Hulk Hogan. The match went back and forth for a while and when it looked as if Hogan was about to win, the lights in the Bell Centre went off briefly. When they came back on, The Rock was still down and Sylvain appeared to be unconscious. Confused, Hogan tried to get Sylvain back to life and all the while, Vince McMahon was making his way down to the ring. This caused enough of a disctraction for Hogan for when he was looking at McMahon, The Rock signalled for Sylvain to pass him the steel chair that was just in front of him. Sylvain did so, The Rock hit Hogan with the chair, Sylvain suddenly ‘came back to life’ and The Rock got the win. Grenier, McMahon and The Rock celebrated in the ring and up the ramp.

5-sundaynightheat

The match between Grenier and Conway was the main event on this edition of Sunday Night Heat. During the previous weeks, Grenier and Conway had beeen trying to ‘one-up’ each other and it led to the match between the two. Conway portrayed the heel and defeated Grenier. La Résistance was disbanded a couple of weeks later when Sylvain was drafted to Smackdown.

6-rawdebut

After weeks of La Résistance vignettes airing on Raw, Sylvain Grenier and René Duprée finally made their debut. They attacked Scott Steiner for the comments he had made about France a week or two earlier (when he likened France to hell) and let him know how they felt about the matter by beating on him.

7-smackdowndebut

In the supplementary draft of 2005, Sylvain had been drafted to Smackdown, thus disbanding La Résistance. He finally made his Smackdown debut on the last Thursday night edition wearing a mid-calf length white sleeveless jacket, sunglasses and sporting a fauxhawk, interrupting the match between Christy Hemme and Stacy Keibler, insulting the two divas until Hardcore Holly came to their rescue, beating Sylvain up and tossing him from the ring.
